IOW, don't overtrain and rest at least four days between workouts. I started lifting again after a long layoff due to a broken arm in March and have been doing one chest/back workout a week, two sets each with pre-exhaust and one bis/tris workout a week with the pre-exhaust technique and I have never seen gains like this before. I kill myself in my workouts however.
